Job Description

Air Traffic Control Radar Systems Engineers 30% Travel | United States | Full-Time Position Overview Crown Innovations is seeking Air Traffic Control Radar System Engineers with experience supporting digital Primary Airport Surveillance Radar (DASR) systems, including FAA ASR-9 and ASR-11 models, as well as FAA Secondary Radar Systems such as ATCBI-6/Mode-S or comparable military primary and secondary radar systems. These roles support the preparation of Site Readiness, Site Design, and Site-Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP) for radar system installations. Military personnel with radar system experience across various branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, including operation and engineering support of radar equipment, are encouraged to apply. This role supports federally regulated infrastructure projects and requires alignment with technical, regulatory, and operational requirements. This role may require up to 30% travel and supports a remote work environment. Positions Available

Key Responsibilities

System Design & Engineering

  • System engineers for site design are responsible for the comprehensive planning, development, and implementation of new radar installation projects, ensuring alignment with technical, regulatory, and operational requirements
  • System engineers for site design in radar systems are responsible for the comprehensive planning, development, and implementation of radar equipment installations, ensuring optimal performance and integration within their operational environment
  • System Engineers are involved in the entire lifecycle of newly installed radar systems, from initial concept through to in-service support, ensuring that the site design meets technical, operational, and safety standards

Implementation Planning

  • Prepare a System Level Implementation Plan (SLIP) for government approval activities to include Site Surveys, Site Design, Facility Adaptation (Site Preparations), Installation Optimization and checkout, acceptance testing, and Equipment Cutover
  • Prepare a Site-Specific Implementation Plan (SSIP) based on a Generic Site Implementation Plan (GSIP), including a complete set of drawings, specifications, plans, and designs for construction, site preparation, installation, optimization, testing, legacy equipment removal, and disposition
  • Ensure SSIP includes all electrical, mechanical, test equipment, and physical installation aspects for new equipment installation solutions, including interfacing with government-specified demarcation points

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Background in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or a related field, typically supported by a BSEE or MSEE degree
  • Experience in radar system design, testing, and integration
  • Knowledge of electronics, radar systems, and troubleshooting, typically gained through formal education or specialized technical training
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and signal generators
  • Ability to analyze facility drawings for accuracy and provide red-line changes where appropriate
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools for documentation and high-level reporting
  • Ability to meet background investigation requirements associated with federal contract work

Experience Requirements by Level Junior Systems Engineer

  • Demonstrated foundational experience or training in radar systems, electronics, or systems engineering
  • Exposure to radar system design, testing, or integration through education, military experience, or professional work

Mid-Level Systems Engineer

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in radar signal processing, digital and analog circuits, microprocessors, and antenna performance for primary and secondary radar systems
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and software

Senior-Level Systems Engineer

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in radar signal processing, digital and analog circuits, microprocessors, and antenna performance for primary and secondary radar systems
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and software

Additional Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of structural components, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems, equipment conditions, or network configuration

Work Environment

  • Remote-based role; candidates may reside anywhere within the United States
  • Approximately 25–30% travel required to project sites as needed
  • Travel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with company policy

Compensation

Air Traffic Control Radar System Engineers (Junior, Mid-Level, Senior) - $45.00 – $80.00 hrs. equivalent Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, level (junior, mid, senior), geographic location, and internal equity considerations. Crown complies with all applicable state and local pay transparency laws. The listed compensation range represents the good faith hourly range for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, geographic considerations, and business needs.
