Job Description

The Project Manager - Design is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering multidisciplinary design projects from concept through issued-for-construction documents. This role focuses exclusively on design execution—overseeing architectural and engineering teams, managing design budgets and schedules, and serving as the primary client point of contact during the design phase. The Design Project Manager ensures projects are delivered in alignment with scope, quality standards, client expectations, and financial goals, while fostering strong internal collaboration and long-term client relationships. This position is located in Omaha, NE.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage multidisciplinary design teams (architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process, structural, etc.) through all phases of design. Plan, execute, and monitor project scope, schedule, and budget for design-only projects. Serve as the primary client liaison during design, facilitating communication, managing expectations, and ensuring a high-quality client experience. Coordinate internal resources and external design partners to ensure timely and accurate project deliverables. Manage design change control, including scope adjustments, fee impacts, and design revisions. Track project financial performance, including labor budgets, forecasts, and profitability. Ensure adherence to CRB’s quality standards, design processes, and documentation requirements. Support business development efforts through client relationship management and contribution to proposals as needed. Pursue and maintain industry-relevant project management certifications (e.g., PMP, AEC PMA), as applicable.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related design discipline (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within an A/E or design-focused firm. Demonstrated experience managing design teams and design deliverables (not construction field execution). Additional Qualifications Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proven ability to lead teams, influence without authority, and manage multiple priorities. Experience serving as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, or discipline lead on design projects. Solid working knowledge of architectural and engineering design processes, interdisciplinary coordination, and document delivery. Client-focused mindset with the ability to build trusted, long-term relationships. #LI-JV1 Additional Information All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines. #LI-Remote CRB is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
