About the role Packsize is seeking a Safety Specialist – Field Operations to support our European field teams, with a strong emphasis on Germany and surrounding regions. This home-based, field-focused role requires broad knowledge of regional European health and safety regulations, standards, and protocols across multiple countries. The position involves extensive travel (50–75%) to customer sites to coach Field Service Engineers, support compliance initiatives, conduct field safety assessments, and help drive a proactive safety culture throughout Europe. Working closely with field leadership, customers, and regional stakeholders, this individual will play a key role in standardizing safety expectations while ensuring alignment with country-specific regulatory requirements and customer standards. What You’ll Do Conduct safety visits, audits, and GEMBA walks at customer sites across Europe. Support the development, implementation, and standardization of safety programs in alignment with Packsize’s global safety standards while accounting for regional regulatory requirements. Serve as a subject matter resource for European health and safety regulations, customer requirements, and country-specific compliance expectations. Coach and mentor Field Service Engineers on safe work practices including LOTO, machine safeguarding, working at heights, electrical safety, and material handling. Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed. Develop and maintain task-based risk assessments, RAMS/JHAs, and standardized safe work procedures (SOPs) for field service activities. Serve as the regional point of contact for the VelocityEHS safety management system, ensuring timely reporting of incidents, hazards, inspections, and corrective actions. Partner with German Works Councils and other regional consultation bodies on safety-related topics, initiatives, and compliance requirements. Collaborate with customers and internal leaders to meet site safety expectations and continuously improve operational safety performance. Support contractor management requirements by partnering with internal stakeholders to obtain and maintain required health and safety documentation and customer compliance records. Monitor emerging European safety regulations and industry best practices to help ensure Packsize remains compliant and proactive across the region. What You’ll Need Fluent in English and German (written and verbal). 3+ years of EHS or safety experience supporting field service, manufacturing, or multi-site operations across Europe. Broad understanding of European health and safety regulations and country-specific compliance frameworks, particularly within Germany and surrounding regions. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while supporting multiple countries, cultures, and stakeholders. Strong knowledge of hazard recognition, risk reduction, contractor safety, and incident investigation methodologies. Ability to influence, coach, and build relationships without direct authority. Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Europe (50–75%). What’s Nice to Have Experience in industrial equipment, automation, manufacturing, or field service environments. Knowledge of European regulatory frameworks such as NF C 18-510, DGUV, VCA, CDM, or other regional safety standards. ISO 45001/14001 experience and/or professional safety certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, etc.). Previous experience working with European Works Councils or similar consultation structures. Experience supporting multinational operations with varying regional compliance requirements.
