POSITION TITLE: Optimization Specialist – Individual Giving ORG UNIT: Private Partnerships Division (PSP) DUTY STATION: Remote CONTRACT TYPE: Regular Consultant DURATION: 11 months ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT The Private Partnerships Division (PSP) is responsible for mobilizing resources from the private sector. PSP has developed an ambitious five-year strategy and our ambition is based on need. The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies, and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Every day 5,000 WFP-chartered trucks are on the road; 80 planes are in the air and 20 ships are at sea. Work as hard as we might, through drought and floods, conflict and peace, disasters natural or man-made, the needs are immense and growing. 318 million people in the world are acutely food insure. To get to a world with Zero Hunger faster, WFP has significantly increased resources in recent years from donor governments. We are now investing in and grow private sector fundraising to reach more people. WFP’s private sector strategy (2025 – 2030) proposes to dramatically increase income from individuals to help reach more people and get to Zero Hunger faster, using digital engagement tools to reach audiences across the globe in a flexible and cost-effective way. Traditional individual fundraising in our sector was primarily conducted through offline channels and implemented through national fundraising operations. The individual fundraising market now looks vastly different, with many potential donors having a digital presence and comfort with transacting online. WFP has a unique opportunity to define its approach amid this digital change, and leapfrog peers through its creation of a digital-led fundraising strategy that engages people worldwide from one centralized team. Our digital focus elevates the importance of an agile approach to delivering opportunities to engage. INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISING In the first year of the new growth strategy the IG team recruited 100k new regular givers supporters, from over 190 countries primarily through digital advertising (Social and Search). Annual income has grown from $3m in FY19 to $56m in FY25 with growth ambitions going far beyond this. Our focus is a digital-first strategy, working through a centralized global team recruiting supporters primarily through digital channels and building an outstanding supporter experience through a multi-channel loyalty programme that delivers a best-in-class donor experience. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Research

  • Deliver projects within the research & analytics roadmap to better understand how audiences interact with Individual Giving fundraising initiatives, channels, products and propositions.
  • Consult on, and execute, regular qualitative and quantitative research for the purposes of understanding supporters, their motivations, and expectations (polls, surveys, user testing, interviews)
  • Use analytics tools to monitor on-site/in-app behaviour and identify opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Work with IG leads to help identify and develop research questions for their programmes

Experimentation & Execution

  • Develop creative solutions & hypotheses to solve problems identified by research
  • Conceive, execute, and conclude experiments across Individual Giving fundraising initiatives, channels, products and propositions.
  • Work with product leads, tech leads, and fundraising leads to turn experiment ideas into reality
  • Support stakeholders from Fundraising, Marketing and Product teams by advising on test design, execution, and interpretation.
  • Create detailed test reports, utilizing data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Help develop an Individual Giving test repository, conducting meta-analyses and establishing best practices
  • Share insights gained from user research and experimentation

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT

  • Research objectives are met (output, insight generation, stakeholder delivery)
  • Testing KPIs are met (experiment output, income, test success)
  • Development of IF test repository

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Education University degree preferably within a research-focused field (e.g. Political Science, Psychology, Economics…). A theoretical understanding of AB testing and the interpretation of statistics is essential. Work history At least five year’s progressive experience within an optimisation-related role (CRO, Experimentation, Digital Marketing, Growth Marketing, Product Marketing, Product Management). Three years of direct experience using research and AB testing to improve the performance of digital campaigns or products. Skills & knowledge

  • Experimentation using A/B & multivariate testing tools (Optimizely, VWO, Google Optimize, AB Tasty, SiteSpect)
  • Understanding of UX research processes & methodologies
  • Knowledge of best practice principles for UI & web/app design
  • Experience optimising both organic and paid-media-driven journeys
  • Use of web analytics tools (e.g. Adobe, Google), including event setup and tagging
  • Working knowledge of HTML & CSS, javascript is a plus
  • Quantitative data analysis & visualization using tools such as Tableau, Looker
  • Good end-to-end understanding of digital marketing channels
