We are seeking a Material Damage Desk Appraiser II to complete auto physical damage appraisals virtually (photo-based) in an accurate, efficient, and compliant manner, while delivering prompt, professional customer service. What does a MATERIAL DAMAGE APPRAISER DESK REVIEWER do at GAINSCO? Virtually inspect and appraise damaged vehicles using photos, company guidelines, and proper repair methods. Use estimating software to evaluate, document, and estimate accident-related vehicle damages. Negotiate repair estimates with the customer’s shop of choice to reach agreement on repair costs. Authorize and manage rental car extensions when needed based on repair conditions. Determine repairability vs. total loss; complete total loss evaluations and determine salvage value. Manage the repair process to support timely vehicle repairs and issue payments for covered damages when appropriate. Maintain accurate claim file notes and communicate effectively with unit teammates and Claims partners. Contact customers and respond to questions in a timely manner What is required? Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Licenses/Certifications: To perform the essential functions of this job an Adjuster License upon hire may be required to comply with state and GAINSCO requirements. Upon hire, additional license(s) may be required. If that is the case, license(s) must be obtained. All licenses must be maintained in accordance with state requirements. ASE / ICAR Certification is a plus. Pass required Material Damage training, reviews, and calibration exercises. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience writing auto damage appraisals is required. Insurance carrier appraisal experience is required. Appraisal estimating software experience is required. Experienced user of software estimating systems High proficiency with CCC ONE estimating software is a plus. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to become ICAR/ASE certified. Ability to demonstrate a high level of auto appraisal technical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize, manage time, and work efficiently. Ability to gather and analyze information to evaluate results and choose the best solution to the problem. Must follow established steps and procedures while exercising proper judgment within established protocols. Ability to travel 5% or less; voluntary travel. What else do you need to know? Remote.
