Role Overview

As a Customer Development Manager, you'll be responsible for executing strategies and tactics that achieve shipment, consumption, and share goals as defined in the FY Business Plan. You'll work closely with internal partners and BJ's Club customers to manage the business end-to-end, with a focus on several key performance indicators (KPIs) such as forecast accuracy, consumption, shipments, and trade spend. You'll also be responsible for managing trade funds within budget and analyzing promotional spending for maximum efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

* Implement 4P's (product, placement, promotion, and pricing) business tactics that align with brand strategies and meet customer needs.

  • Manage trade budget for assigned area with Trade Investment Efficiency (TIE) as a key metric.
  • Achieve and work to consistently improve forecast accuracy by working with CPFR partners and full understanding of the business (POS, Inventory, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot orders, provide status to customers, and seek to resolve all logistical issues and challenges.
  • Collaborate with finance, supply chain, brand, customer strategy, trade customization, Omni performance, and category insights and analytics to align efforts and tactics with customer.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for a category or categories with the customer and meet frequently with buyers to discuss tactical matters such as progress to JBP goals, promotional initiatives, issues, and competitive threats.
  • Execute new product launches and provide promotional materials to the customer.
  • Conduct analysis to assess the effectiveness of promotional activities and strategies.
  • Monitor key metrics to measure progress to goals.
  • Utilize syndicated and customer data to incorporate into sales and category growth plans.
  • Tailor customer-and product group-specific sales presentations to gain support for recommendations.
  • Integrate with internal business partners regularly to deliver Voice of Customer, provide competitive insights, and ensure connectivity/context to company initiatives.

What We're Looking For

* A minimum Bachelor's degree required.

  • 6 years of prior consumer sales-related experience, with 4 years of direct sales experience.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex business data.
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively.
  • Syndicated data experience required.
  • Experience working with a top-ten retailer (i.e., Walgreens, Walmart, Target, CVS) preferred or Club Channel-specific Customer highly desired (BJ's, Sam's Club, Costco).
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong business relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, complex matrix environment.
  • This person will sit out of Fort Washington, PA, or Summit, NJ, and the position will require up to 10-25% travel – fluctuating during the business cycle(s).

Desired Qualifications

* Broad experience across sales, operations, finance, trade, and category, shopper, and eCommerce roles is preferred.

* Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $98,000 to $167,900, taking into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate's skills, experience, education level, and other job-related factors.
