Job Summary
As a Medical Billing Customer Support Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for new customers, providing accurate and timely support for patient care and third-party reimbursement. You will work closely with our team to ensure seamless processing of new orders, respond to customer inquiries, and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner. Your attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to multitask will be essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, referral sources, and employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing of medical billing and customer inquiries. - Process new orders, respond to customer inquiries, and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner. - Collect co-pays and deductible amounts, conduct insurance verification and eligibility for services/products, and obtain authorization and qualification documentation. - Develop and maintain a working knowledge of current Medicare, Medicaid, insurance regulations, and FDA/DOT and JCAHO guidelines. - Maintain accuracy and quality control throughout patient contact and data input. - Manage all aspects of initial intake, including answering phone calls, receiving faxes, collecting patient and referral source information, and inputting data into our proprietary system. - Prepare complete and accurate files for the Billing Department and process work orders to field locations. - Provide education to referral sources, patients, and employees on qualifications for service and 3rd-party billing. - Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, required. - One year of related work experience, preferred. - Experience with medical billing practices and of billing reimbursement, preferred. - Experience in the medical field and administrative record management, preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferred. - Certification in medical billing or a related field, preferred.

- Accurately perform simple mathematical calculations. - Effectively communicate in English, both oral and written. - Interpret a variety of communications (verbal, non-verbal, written, listening, and visual). - Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and caution when handling sensitive information. - Multi-task along with attention to detail. - Self-motivation, organized, time-management, and deductive problem-solving skills. - Work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Demands
- Lift and carry office equipment at times. - Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking, and listening. - Requires close vision to small print on computer and/or tablet and paperwork.
