Job Summary

The Financial Counselor (Customer Services) position plays a critical role in supporting the reduction of Accounts Receivable (AR) and improving patient satisfaction. As a Financial Counselor, you will be responsible for communicating with patients and their families to resolve billing and insurance-related issues, ensuring that patients understand their financial obligations and making arrangements for payment. Your exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will make you an invaluable asset to our team.

Key Responsibilities

* Communicate with patients and their families to resolve billing and insurance-related issues

  • Explain financial obligations and make arrangements for payment
  • Work closely with patients to resolve issues related to insurance coverage, billing, and payment
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of patient accounts
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions and financial information
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current on industry developments and best practices
  • Work effectively in a team environment to achieve departmental and organizational goals

Essential Qualifications

* Associate's degree in a related field (e.g., business, healthcare administration) or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in patient accounting or customer service
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., business, healthcare administration)

  • Experience with patient accounting systems and software
  • Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CCS)
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese)
