Experienced Customer Service Specialist I – Remote Opportunity with arenaflex

Job Summary
The Customer Service Specialist I is a critical role in our revenue cycle team, responsible for handling and resolving incoming phone calls from patients, insurance carriers, and physician offices. This position requires a high level of professionalism, courtesy, and attention to detail, as you will be interacting with patients and clients on a daily basis. Key Responsibilities
* Handle a large volume of calls and perform work in a timely manner, ensuring that all calls are answered promptly and resolved efficiently.
- Attempt to collect full payment from patients or guarantors in a professional and courteous manner, while also establishing payment arrangements per guidelines.
- Document all payments collected over the phone, applying them to each date of service, and clearly documenting all work and follow-up steps in the billing system.
- Handle customer inquiries, disputes, and complaints, escalating contentious complaints to a supervisor or higher management as needed.
- Obtain all necessary insurance, demographic, and guarantor information, updating patient profiles and billing third-party payers as appropriate.
- Clearly document all work and follow-up steps in the system, ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date.
Essential Qualifications
* High school graduate or GED certificate is required.
- A minimum of 6 months' experience in a physician billing or third-party payer environment is preferred.
- Must demonstrate a strong understanding of contracts, insurance benefits, exclusions, and other billing requirements, as well as claim forms, HMOs, PPOs, Medicare, Medicaid, and compliance program regulations.
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate the payer adjudication process.
- Experience with patient financial and practice management systems, particularly Epic and/or other electronic billing systems, is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
- Previous call center/claims experience is preferred.
- Previous experience in an academic healthcare setting is preferred.

* Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as healthcare administration or business.
- Experience with revenue cycle management and patient financial services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, clients, and colleagues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
Compensation and Benefits
* Hourly rate ranges: $22.78 - $30.77, based on experience, skill set, training, and education.
