Collaboration with agents, brokers, and internal claims and legal teams will be a key aspect of this role. Key Responsibilities: Evaluate and underwrite complex insurance risks across assigned lines of business. Analyze financial statements, loss history, and other relevant data to assess risk acceptability. Determine appropriate coverage limits, deductibles, and policy terms and conditions. Set competitive and profitable premium rates based on risk assessment and market analysis. Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents, brokers, and internal stakeholders. Ensure compliance with all relevant insurance regulations and company policies. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters. Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends or emerging risks. Collaborate with the claims department on complex claims handling and resolution. Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines and strategies. Stay current with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes. Utilize underwriting systems and tools effectively to manage workload and documentation. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in insurance underwriting. Strong understanding of insurance principles, risk management, and financial analysis. Relevant professional designations (e.g., CPCU, AU, ARM) are highly desirable. Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in underwriting software and standard office applications. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage a remote workload effectively.
