Experienced Customer Accounts Representative I – Utility Billing and Customer Service

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our Customer Accounts team as an Experienced Customer Accounts Representative I. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and processing utility bills, maintaining accurate customer records, and providing exceptional customer service to our utility customers. Key Responsibilities:
* Operate data entry terminals and software reports to prepare and process utility bills for water, electric, gas, sewer, and refuse services, as well as CNS services
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records, including new service customers and closed-out accounts
- Investigate and resolve billing errors and discrepancies prior to billing cycle
- Verify, sort, and distribute final bills on a weekly basis, with a rotating monthly assignment
- Handle various work orders related to assigned cycle to keep accounts updated
- Send out service orders for verification prior to billing cycle
- Receive and resolve billing complaints from utility customers, preparing complaint listings for meter verification
- Assist with dispatching work orders to service technicians and answer inspection calls
- Communicate with various departments related to customer accounts questions or concerns
- Complete monthly rotated assigned tasks to update special billing reports, such as General ledger and Adjustments
Essential Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in customer service, data entry, or a related field
- Proficiency in data entry software applications, such as Microsoft Office or similar
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in utility billing or customer service
- Knowledge of utility billing software applications
- Certification in customer service or a related field
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
