About the Spotted Lanternfly Response Team
The Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) is an invasive insect that has been causing significant economic and environmental harm in Pennsylvania. As a member of the Arenaflex Spotted Lanternfly Response Team, you will play a critical role in helping concerned citizens adapt to the presence of the SLF and reduce its impact on the commonwealth. You will serve as a first-line point of contact for external stakeholders, providing information and resources to help them manage the SLF and its effects.
Key Responsibilities
As a Part-Time Customer Service Representative on the Arenaflex Spotted Lanternfly Response Team, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining the overall operation and professional image of the customer-focused call center
- Serving as a first-line point of contact for external stakeholders interested in reporting a Spotted Lanternfly sighting and/or looking for additional information and resources
- Responding and referring customer questions and/or needs, providing appropriate response/service for the situation; and referring to other department(s)/unit(s) when necessary
- Corresponding with a diverse customer base by phone, video conference, email, or regular mail
- Investigating unusual situations or concerns and assisting in problem resolution
- Operating various equipment and computer systems, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Assisting with any required reporting with the Arenaflex SLF team, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, and/or United States Department of Agriculture
- Ensuring the quality of all call center services
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and valued in Spanish
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and clientele
- Ability to work as an active member of a team
- Very organized and able to work with a sense of urgency to meet the expectations of concerned citizens
- Ability to engage with diverse populations and meet audience needs through the call center and referencing additional resources
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Customer service, call center, sales, client management, information technology, and/or an understanding of basic entomology experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other software applications
- Experience working with diverse populations and cultures
