Responsibilities
As a Ticket/Gate Agent, you'll be responsible for:
- Check-in Process: Own the check-in process, ensuring that customers have accurate travel documentation and are prepared for their journey.
- Boarding Process: Manage the boarding process, ensuring that customers are seated comfortably and safely.
- Seat Availability: Monitor seat availability and make adjustments as needed to ensure that customers have a smooth and enjoyable experience.
- Gate Announcements: Make gate announcements to keep customers informed about flight schedules, delays, and other important information.
- Baggage Handling: Tag and lift baggage from scales to conveyor belts, ensuring that customers' belongings are safely transported.
- Operating Loading Bridges: Safely operate loading bridges to facilitate the loading and unloading of aircraft.
- Aircraft Doors: Open, close, and secure aircraft doors to ensure safe and secure operations.
- Customer Support: Provide exceptional customer support, assisting with routing, trip planning, and gate boarding.
- Unaccompanied Minors and Disabled Passengers: Escort unaccompanied minors and disabled passengers throughout the airport, ensuring their safety and comfort.
Requirements
To be successful as a Ticket/Gate Agent, you'll need to:
- Prioritize Safety and Security: Consistently prioritize the safety and security of yourself, others, and personal data.
- Embrace Diversity: Embrace diverse people, thinking, and styles, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for our customers.
- Education: Possess a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Age and Authorization: Be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States.
- Language Proficiency: Possess proficiency in English.
- Communication Skills: Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, using appropriate grammar, tone, and pronunciation.
- Digital Literacy: Possess basic digital literacy, including proficiency in computer systems and software.
- Physical Ability: Pass a physical ability test (PAT) to ensure that you can safely perform the duties of the role.
- Customer Service Assessment: Pass a Customer Service Assessment to demonstrate your ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- Airport Requirements: Hold airport-specific requirements, such as a SIDA Badge and Customs Seal.
Nice-to-Haves
While not required, the following skills and qualifications are highly desirable:
- Previous Customer Service Experience: Previous experience in customer service, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
- Aviation Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the aviation industry, including airport operations and safety procedures.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in multiple languages, including Spanish, Chinese, or other languages commonly spoken by our customers.
