Key Responsibilities

As an Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist, you'll be responsible for:

• Executing strategies that support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product
• Working closely with the MD of Ocean to support carrier development, pricing, and carrier service analysis
• Analyzing carrier performance, routings, and carrier service issues to identify areas for improvement
• Supporting sales and operations as an ocean subject matter expert
• Implementing and communicating strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality
• Assisting in implementing pricing programs and reviewing volume targets
• Developing an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve expectations of account development and yield enhancement
• Communicating both internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and work closely with the MD, Ocean, along with the global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction and deliverables
• Direct and indirect customer contact will also be required
• Working closely with product, sales, and operations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures to minimize company risk exposure and enhance service quality and achieve volume targets
• Conducting regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
• Assisting in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity; submitting reports as required
• Working with the MD, Ocean, along with the regional ocean management team, to promote the ocean product
• Supporting sales and operations as needed
• Managing annual budget; controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
• Working closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product

Essential Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent

• At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing
• Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus
• Familiar with Microsoft Office apps
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

* Master's degree or higher

• Advanced knowledge of international freight forwarding industry trends and best practices
• Experience in developing and implementing ocean strategies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
