Summary/Objective The Licensed Psychotherapist will work as a dedicated full-time employee and part of a multidisciplinary team to provide virtual-first psychosocial assessments and skill-based psychotherapy and education to individuals with serious mental illness (SMI), and caregiver support to the people supporting patients with SMI, dementia, and other disorders. Essential Functions Direct Patient Care (87%)
- Provide virtual-first psychosocial assessments and psychotherapy to individuals with serious mental illness; facilitate patient engagement and follow-up care
- Provide audio-only follow-up sessions in the event of technical issues or if the patient is unable to access video technology.
- Provide time-framed, goal-focused, skill-based psychotherapy using evidence-based techniques (including CBT, solution-focused treatment, motivational interviewing, behavioral activation, and others)
- Document treatment response and monitor clinical symptoms
- Provide support and advocacy to caregivers and family members of patients with dementia and serious mental illness as needed
- Lead/facilitate support groups and group therapy
Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration (13%)
- As part of a multidisciplinary care team, identify social determinants of health needs that team members will work to resolve
- Serve a crucial role on a multidisciplinary care team of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, community health workers, and medical assistants; participate in huddles and multidisciplinary communication
Competency Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comfort working in a startup environment with a rapidly growing and evolving team
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team setting
- Ability to maintain effective and professional relationships with patients and other members of the care team
- Ability to effectively engage patients and their caregivers in a therapeutic relationship
- Ability to work with patients via telehealth platform and via telephone
- Working knowledge of differential diagnosis of common mental health and/or substance use disorders, when appropriate
- Working knowledge of evidence-based psychosocial treatments and brief behavioral interventions for common mental health disorders, when appropriate (e.g., motivational interviewing, problem-solving treatment, behavioral activation)
Required Education and Experience
- Experience with screening for common mental health and/or substance use disorders.
- Experience with assessment and treatment planning for common mental health and/or substance use disorders.
- Experience conducting psychotherapy via telehealth
