Responsibilities

As a Data Entry Cashier, you will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to students, parents, and sponsors. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining individual student accounts by posting payments, charges, adjustments, and disbursements
• Preparing daily bank deposits and maintaining a petty cash fund
• Maintaining and reconciling petty cash fund accurately
• Keeping PC-based logs of deposit information and tracking student accounts
• Creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets for tracking and analyzing accounts receivable
• Maintaining cash drawer, safe, and confidential records securely
• Performing various other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the department

Key Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Two years of paid full-time or part-time equivalent clerical experience involving bookkeeping, record keeping, or cashiering, with one year involving computer or data entry equipment
• Successful completion of a college-level course in keyboarding, computer applications, or similar coursework plus two years of relevant clerical experience
• Must hold the civil service title of Data Entry Cashier or be on the current eligible list for provisional appointment
• Valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or ability to meet transportation needs

Nice-to-Haves

While not required, the following skills and qualifications are highly desirable:

• Bilingual in Spanish, able to read, write, and speak proficiently in Spanish or other languages
