Director, Donor Engagement

POSITION OVERVIEW The Director, Donor Engagement is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with donors and prospective donors of major gifts (typically $25K - $250K annually) to support the mission of FJC – grow, support, and strengthen the Jewish camp movement, so camps can deliver exceptional experiences for their campers, staff, families, and communities—engaging them in lifelong, joyful Judaism. This role leads intentional donor engagement strategies, building meaningful, personalized relationships that deepen funder connection to FJC’s mission and inspires long-term philanthropic investment. The Director, Donor Engagement, will expand the organization’s major gift pipeline through donor-facing relationship management. The Director, Donor Engagement, is a key member of the Advancement team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement proactive strategies to identify, engage, and steward a pipeline of current and prospective donors (including individuals, foundations and Donor Advised Funds) capable of making gifts of $25,000+ annually
  • Secure new, renewed, or increased funding through face-to-face meetings, personalized proposals, virtual and in-person gatherings, and strategic outreach
  • Manage a portfolio of 100 - 150 major gift prospects and donors, maintaining consistent personal contact to deepen relationships
  • Work closely with the Advancement team to create individualized cultivation and solicitation plans tailored to each prospect's interests and giving capacity
  • Partner with FJC lay and professional leadership to build meaningful connection between donors and FJC
  • Lead end-to-end execution of high-impact donor events for high-net-worth individuals, including venues, vendors, and guest experience
  • Design tailored donor experiences that deepen engagement and long-term relationships
  • Partner with the Manager, Development Operations to create event strategy, logistics, and on-site execution to ensure a seamless, high-quality experience
  • Prepare compelling proposals, briefings, and presentations that inspire major gift commitments
  • Ensure exemplary stewardship of donors through tailored communications, recognition opportunities, and cultivation events
  • Meticulously track and report on all activities, contacts, and gift commitments in Salesforce
  • Collaborate across teams to remain current on FJC’s programs, data, priorities, and key impact areas
  • Additional responsibilities as determined by the Chief Advancement Officer

WORK SCHEDULE & LOCATION

  • This role can be remote or based in-person several days per week in our NYC office
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to powerfully speak and write about FJC’s mission
  • Ability to approach work with a positive attitude, curiosity, creativity, and a growth mindset
  • Possess a high level of interpersonal savvy and is committed to building strategic, successful relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • Able to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment
  • Self-motivated with superior organizational and time management skills
  • Possess a deeply rooted passion and commitment to the mission of Foundation for Jewish Camp
  • Ability to prioritize a diverse and demanding workload; set attainable goals and meet deadlines

CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of successful major gift experience in a nonprofit organization
  • Proven track record of securing major gifts of five and six figures
  • Tech-savvy with collaborative tech tools. Familiarity with donor database, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and Asana a plus
