Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Medical Customer Service Representative to join our team in Rockville, MD. As a key member of our patient support team, you'll be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, resolving claims and eligibility issues, and maintaining accurate records. Responsibilities
As a Medical Customer Service Representative, you'll be responsible for:
- Obtaining and maintaining a working knowledge of basic plan provisions, multiple benefit schedules, eligibility systems, claim systems, and other relevant medical systems
- Responding promptly and accurately to phone calls, emails, walk-in participants, and written correspondence by answering questions and explaining claim payments and denials
- Quoting self-payment amounts, verifying eligibility and benefits, researching eligibility or claim issues, and updating eligibility with outside vendors
- Documenting all patient interactions in the patient account system
- Performing various clerical duties, including entering enrollment forms, processing working spouse forms, special fund claims, and disability claims
- Handling messages from the after-hours mailbox and following up with patients as needed
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare call center setting
- The ability to pass a typing test at 40 WPM
- Knowledge of medical terminology and claims processes is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with computer systems and medical software
