OBJECTIVE: To provide adjunct professional expertise by a licensed mental health professional, to facilitate short-term counseling, 6 sessions 45 minute sessions including the discharging session to include ongoing support referral as needed, for individuals within the mission and scope of Cancer Support Community Washington, D.C. Individual and or family counseling sessions serve as an adjunct and can help with problem solving and empowerment, decrease feelings of isolation, and help navigate the numerous transitions that are faced by people impacted by a cancer diagnosis. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide short-term individual therapy (up to six sessions per participant) via Zoom or in person, in alignment with Cancer Support Community methodology, philosophy, and scope of practice for individuals impacted by cancer.
  • Short- term counseling participants in sharing their cancer-related experiences, fostering connection, reducing isolation, and promoting empowerment.
  • Schedule of clients, including full name and contact information, is to be kept on a calendar that is shared with the Program Director.
  • Any phone communication with participants is to be made on a network partner phone line and not a mobile or personal phone.
  • Any email communication with the participant is only to be made via a network partner email account.
  • Participate in orientation, required training, including review of the CSC Program Manual, Short- Term Counseling Guidelines, and meetings with the management team.
  • Attend monthly clinical meetings and complete required documentation, including invoices and any reports as requested.
  • Conduct clinically appropriate follow-up with therapy participants to assess progress, identify ongoing needs or barriers to care, evaluate satisfaction with services, and document outcomes in accordance with CSC protocol.
  • When a participant needs support that is beyond competency, this will be disclosed to the participant. A list of referral sources will support the participant as she/he establishes a counseling relationship outside of the network partner.
  • Facilitate appropriate discharge planning at the conclusion of short-term individual therapy, including providing referrals to applicable ongoing CSC programs, community resources, or external services to support continued care.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Program Director, including one-on-one communication with participants and participation in relevant administrative or clinical meetings.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s-level, independently licensed mental health professional (e.g., LICSW, LCSW-C, LCPC, LMFT, Psychologist) with an active license to practice independently in Washington, DC at the time of hire, and the ability to obtain licensure in Maryland and Virginia within 45 days of hire.
  • Proof of active licensure and professional liability insurance coverage required.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience providing individual and/or group therapy.
  • Commitment to CSC’s psychosocial support methods and therapeutic community model.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals facing serious or chronic illness.
  • Proficiency with virtual platforms, primarily Zoom, and the ability to facilitate groups in person as needed.

Term: CSC shall pay Contractor $100 per hour This Agreement will terminate on December 31, 2026, unless ended earlier in accordance with the Agreement. Annual renewal is based on CSC program needs and a mutual written agreement. Pay: $100.00 per hour Benefits:
