Grant Writer & Advisory Council Member (volunteer role)
Help Expand Access to Music, Arts, and Opportunity Heartstrings Collective is seeking a passionate and mission-driven Volunteer Grant Writer & Advisory Council Member to help support programs focused on emerging artists, music education, creative entrepreneurship, and equitable access to the arts. This is an opportunity to use your writing, fundraising, and strategic expertise to help build a growing nonprofit organization creating pathways for underrepresented creators and communities. We welcome professionals looking to gain nonprofit leadership experience, expand their portfolio, contribute meaningful impact, or support the arts and creative economy. Position Overview The Volunteer Grant Writer & Advisory Council Member will support fundraising and organizational growth through grant research, proposal development, strategic guidance, and collaborative planning. This role combines hands-on grant writing experience with the opportunity to serve as a valued advisor helping shape the future direction of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Grant Writing & Fundraising Support
- Research grant opportunities aligned with arts, education, workforce development, youth empowerment, and community impact
- Assist in drafting grant proposals, letters of inquiry, sponsorship requests, and funding narratives
- Help develop program budgets, impact language, and supporting materials
- Track deadlines and maintain grant submission calendars
- Support donor and foundation outreach efforts
Advisory Council Participation
- Provide strategic guidance and professional insight to organizational leadership
- Participate in occasional virtual planning meetings
- Offer recommendations related to partnerships, fundraising, marketing, programming, or organizational growth
- Serve as an ambassador for the organization within your network when appropriate
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with grant writing, fundraising, nonprofit development, communications, public policy, higher education, workforce development, arts administration, or related fields
- Strong writing, editing, and research skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Passion for arts access, equity, education, and community impact
- Experience with nonprofit organizations is helpful but not required
