  • *About The Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Architect to join our dynamic technology team at Cooley LLP. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the firm’s enterprise security architecture. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the security and integrity of our systems, especially as we incorporate emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). The Cyber Security Architect will be responsible for proactively identifying vulnerabilities, mitigating cyber threats, and establishing security standards that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of cybersecurity in a legal environment, ensuring our organization’s assets and data remain protected against sophisticated cyber threats.

  • *Qualifications**

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, infrastructure, or systems architecture is required, with senior candidates ideally having five or more years of applicable experience. A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields is preferred, along with professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent. Familiarity with security frameworks including NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and emerging AI regulations is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in security controls such as access management, data encryption, firewalls, and threat detection tools. Cloud security certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with CI/CD pipelines will be advantageous. Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

  • *Responsibilities
  • Design and maintain comprehensive enterprise security architecture across on-premises, hybrid, and AI-enabled environments, ensuring robust protection against cyber threats.
  • Define and implement security standards, patterns, and reference architectures aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct security architecture reviews for new systems, applications, AI/ML platforms, and significant technology changes to ensure compliance and security best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, and data teams to embed security, privacy, and governance into system design and deployment processes.
  • Develop security controls specifically for AI and ML systems, including data pipelines, model training environments, inference platforms, and AI integrations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with AI systems, such as data leakage, model poisoning, prompt injection, and adversarial attacks.
  • Evaluate and recommend advanced security tools, platforms, and AI-enabled security technologies to enhance the firm’s security posture.
  • Ensure all security architectures comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and industry standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and emerging AI regulations.
  • Establish guardrails for the responsible and secure use of generative AI and large language models, including access controls, monitoring, logging, and audit mechanisms.
  • Support incident response activities, forensic investigations, and post-incident architecture improvements to prevent future occurrences.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to security engineers and other technical stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex architectural decisions and security risks effectively to both technical teams and senior leadership.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to address urgent security issues as they arise.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support the firm’s cybersecurity initiatives.
