Interior Designer for Practical Townhouse Design & Furnishing
I’m looking for an interior designer to help design and furnish my townhouse. This is not a luxury fit-out project - I’m looking for a well-designed home rather than a highly conceptual design exercise. It’s completely fine for furniture to come from places like IKEA where it makes sense. The design should feel modern, practical and comfortable, and make smart use of space. I prefer clean lines, simple detailing, and a restrained mix of materials and finishes. I like contrast and I’m open to colour. I’m not looking for all-beige interiors where everything blends together. I strongly dislike the typical “luxury fit-out” look: marble, glossy surfaces, decorative wall/ceiling features, and interiors that feel like hotel lobbies or show homes. I also want to avoid generic “Instagram render” interiors (feature TV walls, LED strip lighting, decorative slat panels, overly staged shelving, etc.). I’m not looking for boho, rustic, or heavily traditional interiors. I’d like the process to start by defining the overall design direction before moving into design work. I’m starting from a fairly blank slate and need help reviewing options, references and mood boards to figure out the right direction. Once agreed, we can move into space planning, furniture selection and finishes. Furniture, materials and fixtures should be practical to source locally. I’m open to importing smaller items where it makes sense.
