Senior Solar Energy Systems Engineer
Our client, a leader in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Solar Energy Systems Engineer to join their dynamic remote team. This is a critical role focused on the design, development, and implementation of advanced solar energy solutions. You will be instrumental in driving innovation and ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our solar power projects across the nation. As a fully remote employee, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, electrical engineers, and installation specialists, utilizing state-of-the-art communication and project management tools. Key Responsibilities: Lead the conceptual design and detailed engineering of utility-scale and commercial solar PV systems, including system sizing, component selection, and performance modeling. Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies, analyzing environmental factors, grid interconnection requirements, and local regulations. Develop and review engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Helioscope. Perform electrical design for inverters, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, etc.). Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in solar technology, energy storage, and grid integration. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during the design, construction, or commissioning phases. Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and engineering best practices. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in solar PV system design and engineering. Proven expertise in solar modeling software (PVsyst, Helioscope, SAM) and CAD tools. Strong understanding of electrical principles, power systems, and energy storage technologies. Familiarity with national and international electrical codes and standards. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate in a remote environment. Experience with large-scale project development and management is highly desirable. Professional Engineer (PE) license is a significant advantage.
