Lead Instructional Designer, Online Education
Our client, a forward-thinking organization committed to transforming education, is seeking a highly creative and experienced Lead Instructional Designer to spearhead the development of engaging online learning experiences. This role is entirely remote, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute to educational innovation from any location within the United States. The Lead Instructional Designer will be responsible for the end-to-end design and development of high-quality, learner-centered online courses and training programs. You will translate complex subject matter into clear, concise, and engaging learning content, utilizing a variety of pedagogical approaches and multimedia elements. This involves working closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) from diverse fields to ensure accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness of the curriculum. You will also be tasked with developing learning objectives, designing assessments, and creating interactive learning activities that promote knowledge retention and skill application. Key responsibilities include guiding and mentoring a team of instructional designers, ensuring adherence to design standards and best practices. You will select and implement appropriate instructional technologies and learning platforms to enhance the learning experience. Staying current with emerging trends and research in online learning, adult education, and instructional design is crucial. The successful candidate will manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery of learning solutions. A strong focus on evaluation and continuous improvement of learning programs will be essential. Qualifications for this position include a Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in instructional design, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior role. Proven experience designing and developing online courses for higher education or professional development. Expertise in adult learning theories and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM). Proficiency with authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and Learning Management Systems (LMS). Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, particularly in working with remote SMEs and team members. The ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and drive projects to completion in a remote setting is paramount.
