Systems Administrator – Windows/Linux & AppDynamics (Remote) Location: Remote (occasional travel to San Antonio, TX) Job Type: Full-time Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM EST (flex time available; occasional weekend work) Clearance: Active or recent DoD Secret clearance preferred Help Keep the Military Health System Running Behind every appointment booked, every prescription filled, and every record accessed in the military health system is infrastructure that has to just work. We're hiring a Systems Administrator to keep that infrastructure healthy, secure, and fast for the millions of service members, veterans, and families who depend on it. If you've spent years in the trenches of Windows, Linux, and Active Directory, know AppDynamics inside and out, and take pride in hardening systems to STIG, this is a chance to put that experience behind a mission that matters. What You'll Actually Do You'll wear two complementary hats: keeping our Windows and Linux estate patched, compliant, and running clean — and owning AppDynamics as the lens our teams use to spot trouble before users do. On the systems administration side, you'll handle routine patching and health checks across Windows Server and RHEL Linux, manage Active Directory (users, GPOs, security settings), support COTS applications, and respond to help desk tickets with the kind of customer service that gets remembered. When something breaks at an inconvenient hour, you'll be the steady hand that diagnoses it, fixes it, and writes up what happened so it doesn't happen twice. You'll also build scripted solutions (PowerShell, Selenium) for synthetic transaction monitoring. On the AppDynamics side, you'll install and configure agents (Java, .NET, Node.js) across diverse environments, stand up and maintain controllers, build the dashboards and health rules our engineering and operations teams rely on, and partner with DevOps to weave APM into CI/CD pipelines. You'll be the person who turns "the app feels slow" into a root cause and a fix. On security and compliance, you'll apply and maintain STIG hardening across everything you touch — Windows, Linux, and AppDynamics — and support assessments, vulnerability remediation, and compliance reporting to DoD and federal standards.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 6+ years of combined experience in systems administration and AppDynamics
• IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, or equivalent)
• Strong hands-on experience with Active Directory and Group Policy administration
• Deep working knowledge of Windows Server and RHEL Linux environments
• Proven AppDynamics experience: installation, configuration, agent deployment, dashboards, health rules, and backend administration
• Scripting fluency (PowerShell required; Selenium and/or Python a plus)
• Experience applying and maintaining STIG compliance in federal environments
• Solid grasp of application architectures (microservices, monolithic, cloud-native) and common stacks (Java, .NET, Tomcat, WebLogic)
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
• U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a federal background check

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• Active or recent DoD Secret clearance
• AppDynamics certification (Associate or Professional)
• Experience with other APM tools (Dynatrace, New Relic)
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Background in healthcare IT or federal health systems
