Program Portfolio Strategist (Fractional – US Market)

We invite you to get to know more about us: https://skillup.online/ ROLE OVERVIEW : As Director, Program Portfolio Strategy, you will lead the strategic direction of SkillUp’s program catalog for the US market. You will bring structure to how we identify opportunities, validate demand, and make decisions on program investments. This is a highly cross-functional role working across product, marketing, and leadership teams, acting as both a strategic advisor and a decision enabler. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Portfolio Strategy

  • Define the structure and direction of SkillUp’s program portfolio for the US market
  • Identify high-potential program opportunities based on market demand
  • Recommend programs to build, expand, redesign, or retire
  • Define clear ideal customer profiles (ICPs) for each program

Catalog Governance

  • Establish a structured framework for managing the program catalog
  • Define lifecycle stages and performance benchmarks for programs
  • Maintain visibility into program performance and portfolio health
  • Ensure clarity, focus, and scalability across the catalog

Market Intelligence (US Focus)

  • Track the US edtech, bootcamp, and workforce learning landscape
  • Analyze competitors, pricing models, and positioning strategies
  • Monitor employer demand signals and hiring trends
  • Identify emerging skills, roles, and credential pathways

Demand Validation

  • Introduce structured validation before program development begins
  • Design and guide validation experiments such as landing pages, waitlists, and employer interviews
  • Partner with marketing to execute demand testing and interpret insights
  • Ensure programs are built based on real market signals

Pricing Strategy

  • Benchmark pricing across comparable programs and competitors
  • Evaluate and test pricing models
  • Align pricing with program outcomes, positioning, and accessibility

Program Positioning & Messaging

  • Partner with marketing to define clear program positioning
  • Clarify target audiences and career outcomes
  • Ensure differentiation in a competitive market
  • Align messaging with employer demand and learner expectations

Strategic Collaboration

  • Work closely with product, marketing, and leadership teams
  • Provide structured input into program decisions and investments
  • Mentor product owners and guide program development from a strategy lens
  • Act as a strategic advisor and thought partner to leadership

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • 10+ years of experience in edtech, workforce learning, or related sectors
  • Proven experience building or managing program portfolios or learning products
  • Strong understanding of the US education and workforce training landscape
  • Experience working with industry credential ecosystems (e.g., Google, IBM, AWS)
  • Strong market research and demand validation capabilities
  • Experience with pricing strategy and program positioning
  • Ability to translate market insights into actionable program decisions
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally across product, marketing, and leadership teams
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate independently in a fractional, high-ownership role
