Senior Agronomist & Precision Agriculture Specialist
Our client, a forward-thinking agricultural technology company, is seeking a Senior Agronomist & Precision Agriculture Specialist to join their fully remote team. This position offers the unique opportunity to work from anywhere in the US, contributing to the advancement of sustainable and efficient farming practices through cutting-edge technology. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of agronomy, coupled with expertise in precision agriculture techniques, data analysis, and remote sensing technologies. Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic strategies and crop management plans for diverse agricultural operations. Design, deploy, and manage precision agriculture technologies, including GPS guidance, variable rate application, yield monitoring, and sensor integration. Analyze large datasets from various sources (soil sensors, drone imagery, satellite data, yield monitors) to provide actionable insights for optimizing crop production. Conduct field trials and research to evaluate new technologies, crop varieties, and management practices. Provide technical guidance and support to farmers, agronomists, and agricultural consultants on best practices for crop health, soil management, and resource optimization. Develop training materials and conduct workshops on precision agriculture techniques and data interpretation. Collaborate with R&D teams to develop and refine new agricultural technologies and software solutions. Stay current with advancements in agronomy, soil science, remote sensing, data analytics, and sustainable agriculture. Contribute to the development of company-wide strategies for sustainable agriculture and climate resilience. Monitor crop health and identify potential issues, recommending appropriate interventions. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Agricultural Engineering, Crop Science, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in agronomy, with at least 4 years focused on precision agriculture. Proven expertise in utilizing precision agriculture hardware and software (e.g., John Deere Operations Center, Climate FieldView, Trimble Agriculture). Strong understanding of remote sensing technologies, GIS, and spatial data analysis. Proficiency in data analysis tools and statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SAS). Experience with crop modeling and simulation is a plus. Excellent understanding of soil science, plant physiology, and pest/disease management. Strong communication, presentation, and training skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting. Passion for sustainable agriculture and leveraging technology to improve farming outcomes.
