Breast and Cervical Health Program Manager

About the position You will serve as a Program Manager within the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Program. The core function of this program is to provide access to breast and cervical cancer screening and follow-up services to underserved women in Maine. Other responsibilities include supervising the Screening and Follow-Up team where statewide activities include enrollment of at-risk individuals; enrollment and oversight of participating health care providers; navigation of enrolled women; management of the data management and reporting systems; oversight of the claims processing system including claim adjudication. The efforts of this program derive from the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, which is a component of the US CDC Funding Opportunity, Cancer Prevention and Control Programs. Collaboration with health care systems, community organizations, patients, and other public and private partners are necessary for optimal program success. You will also:

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the team staff, delegate activities, support employee development, complete performance evaluations, and manage personnel issues.
  • Manage the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) component of the US CDC grant which includes, planning, implementation, budgeting, reporting, and contract management
  • Support, manage, and facilitate the day-to-day work and overall strategy of Maine CDC’s Breast and Cervical Health Program efforts
  • Facilitate/encourage the collaboration of the Screening and Follow-Up team with other programs of the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Program on defined objectives and activities to implement best practices in chronic disease prevention.
  • Develop applications, formulate strategies, and provide oversight for current and future CDC cooperative agreements
  • Serve as a point of contact with internal and external partners to promote Breast and Cervical Health in Maine
  • Collaborate with other chronic disease specific programs to implement cross-cutting strategies
  • Practice good customer service skills and behaviors in all contacts with clients, co-workers, and the public.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors Degree in Public Health or Health Sciences, Health Education, one of the Behavioral Sciences, Public Administration, or Education -AND- three (3) years experience in health program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation -OR- an equivalent seven (7) year combination of education, training, and experience.
