Senior Beauty Product Development Chemist

Our client, a renowned innovator in the beauty and wellness industry, is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Beauty Product Development Chemist. This role is critical in driving the creation of cutting-edge cosmetic and skincare products from concept to launch. You will leverage your deep understanding of cosmetic chemistry, formulation science, and regulatory requirements to develop high-performance, safe, and stable products. Working within a collaborative R&D team, you will have the opportunity to shape product lines, explore new ingredients, and bring exciting innovations to market. This position requires a blend of scientific expertise, creativity, and a passion for the beauty industry. We are looking for a candidate who can independently manage projects, troubleshoot complex formulation challenges, and contribute significantly to our product innovation pipeline. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio of successfully launched products and a keen awareness of current beauty trends and consumer needs. Responsibilities: Formulate and develop new cosmetic, skincare, and personal care products, ensuring efficacy, stability, safety, and aesthetic appeal. Conduct benchtop formulation work, scale-up trials, and pilot plant runs. Perform raw material evaluation and qualification, identifying and testing novel ingredients. Investigate and troubleshoot formulation issues, providing data-driven solutions. Conduct stability testing, compatibility studies, and efficacy testing for new and existing formulations. Ensure all product developments comply with relevant industry regulations (e.g., FDA, REACH) and internal quality standards. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Claims, Regulatory Affairs, and Operations. Prepare comprehensive documentation for product development, including formulation records, specifications, and manufacturing procedures. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and competitor product innovations. Mentor and guide junior chemists and formulators. Present formulation concepts and development updates to internal stakeholders. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in cosmetic formulation and product development within the beauty industry. Proven track record of successfully developing and launching skincare and/or color cosmetic products. In-depth knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, their functions, and interactions. Strong understanding of formulation principles, rheology, emulsification, and preservation systems. Experience with analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR) is a plus. Familiarity with regulatory requirements for cosmetic products in key global markets. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment.
