City/State Norfolk, VA Work Shift First (Days) Overview: Sentara is hiring a Senior Pharmacy Technician for our Specialty Pharmacy Case Management team at Norfolk General Hospital Location: Norfolk, VA Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk) Shift: Rotating Days shift Hours: 8am-4:30pm / 8:30am-5pm / 9:30am-6pm Occasional Saturdays The Senior Pharmacy Technician provides pharmacy services under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates advanced skills and ownership of the work area. Provides technician leadership and independent judgment in providing patient care. Analyzes information required to complete specialized job functions Assumes local and system responsibility for assigned areas Serves as a resource for the staff, and coordinates the schedule and daily activities of the department Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership for the work area Continually seeks out additional training opportunities and stay abreast of new and changing information for assigned areas Supports the training of new employees and participates in the creation and maintenance of training materials Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
