Job Title: Behavioral Health Account Manager (SUD Focus) Department: Revenue Cycle Management Reports To: Director of Operations Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099) | Remote | Full-Time Pay: $25 - $35 per hour Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Account Manager to support our growing portfolio of behavioral health providers, with a strong focus on Substance Use Disorder (SUD) facilities. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth delivery of full-cycle revenue cycle management services—from intake and verification through collections and reporting. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator, highly organized, and experienced in behavioral health billing and payer relations. This position is remote, flexible, and 1099-based, but requires consistent weekday availability and client responsiveness. Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of SUD treatment providers.
• Manage the end-to-end billing cycle including claims submission, rejection/denial management, follow-ups, and payment posting.
• Review client accounts weekly for accuracy, timely reimbursement, and compliance with payer requirements.
• Collaborate with internal billing, verification, and UR teams to address and resolve client or payer issues.
• Deliver regular account status updates and A/R performance reports to clients.
• Escalate payer issues as needed and coordinate appeals or peer-to-peer reviews with the UR team.
• Identify and communicate trends in denials or underpayments and recommend process improvements.
• Assist with onboarding new clients by coordinating data collection, systems setup, and account training.
• Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients while providing expert-level support and guidance.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in behavioral health billing or revenue cycle management, with emphasis on SUD treatment programs.
• Solid understanding of full-cycle billing practices including authorizations, coding, claims processing, and A/R follow-up.
• Familiarity with commercial payers and Medicaid plans, including state-specific nuances.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple client accounts.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience managing multiple provider accounts simultaneously.
• Proficiency with billing platforms such as Avea, Kipu, or Ritten.
• Knowledge of ASAM criteria and payer-specific SUD billing guidelines.
• Previous experience in a billing service or consulting firm.
