Journalist - St. George, Utah (Volunteer)

Role Description We are seeking a passionate and dedicated volunteer Journalist in the Utah area to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in journalism, with exceptional writing and communication skills. This role involves researching, writing, and reporting on various topics while adhering to AP style guidelines. The Journalist will also engage in multimedia storytelling to enhance our content. Duties
- Engage with organization leaders, volunteers, and community members to capture compelling stories.
- Research partner organizations to craft captivating articles about who they are, and what they do.
- Attend In-Person and / or Virtual Events to cover community outreach and other foundation initiatives.
- Write clear, engaging articles and blogs that adhere to AP style guidelines.
- Edit and proofread content for clarity, grammar, and factual accuracy before publication.
- Collaborate with editors and other journalists to develop story ideas and angles.
- Fact-check all information to maintain the highest journalistic standards.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for new content ideas and initiatives.
- Stay updated on current events and trends relevant to assigned beats.
Qualifications
- Press Releases and News Writing skills
- Strong writing skills with a proven ability to produce high-quality content under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in AP style; familiarity with copy editing and proofreading techniques is essential
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly
- Strong research skills with attention to detail; ability to verify facts effectively
