AWS Systems Administrator (Must have GOVCON or Federal Experience with AWS Certification)
## Job Title: AWS Systems Administrator ### Job Summary The AWS Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, migration, and ongoing operationsmaintenance (O&M) of cloud-based infrastructure within Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role supports the transition of on-premise systems to AWS environments while ensuring high availability, security, scalability, and performance of cloud solutions. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in AWS architecture, cloud-native tools, and infrastructure automation, along with hands-on experience managing production environments. ## Core Competencies ### 1. AWS InfrastructureArchitecture Management
- Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure AWS infrastructure using services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, and CloudFront.
- Implement best practices for high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery across AWS environments.
### **2. Cloud MigrationModernization** • Lead and support migration of on-premise applications and infrastructure to AWS using tools such as AWS Migration Hub, Server Migration Service (SMS), and Database Migration Service (DMS).
- Assess legacy environments and recommend modernization strategies leveraging cloud-native services.
### 3. OperationsMaintenance (O&M) Support
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize AWS environments using tools like CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Config.
- Perform patching, upgrades, backups, and incident response to ensure system reliability and performance.
### 4. AutomationDevOps Enablement
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
### 5. SecurityCompliance
- Implement and manage AWS security controls, including IAM policies, encryption, and network security configurations.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards through continuous monitoring and auditing.
## Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain AWS environments across development, testing, and production.
- Configure and manage networking components including VPCs, subnets, route tables, and security groups.
- Support cloud cost optimization initiatives and resource utilization tracking.
- Collaborate with engineering, security, and DevOps teams to support application deployments.
- Document system configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
- Provide on-call support and participate in incident management and root cause analysis.
## Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–7+ years of systems administration experience, with at least 2–3 years in AWS environments.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
- Experience migrating on-premise infrastructure to AWS cloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of Linux and/or Windows server administration.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
## Preferred Certifications
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate (highly preferred)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (nice to have)
- Additional certifications (CompTIA Security+, Linux+, etc.) are a plus
