Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Part Time Remote Customer Service Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Access Center, you'll be responsible for answering a high volume of inbound calls, navigating electronic health records, and providing exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and facilities. Responsibilities
As a Part Time Remote Customer Service Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Navigating electronic health records to obtain and validate historical information, capturing and documenting demographic and financial information, and maintaining patient privacy and security as outlined by HIPAA.
- Managing a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, ensuring resolution to the call and providing excellent customer service in a variety of situations.
- Leveraging critical thinking with speed and accuracy to identify reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity.
- Scheduling patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verifying and updating insurance, and collecting and documenting demographics.
- Maintaining proficiency in and sharing knowledge of insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions, and communicating directly with providers to relay pertinent clinical information during after hours.
- Managing calls within established performance and customer service standards, achieving targeted abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-5 years of recent healthcare or customer service experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
- Proficiency in electronic health records and customer service software
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a healthcare or customer service environment
- Knowledge of electronic health records and customer service software
- Certification in customer service or a related field
