Remote Bioinformatics Scientist
Our client, a cutting-edge research and development organization, is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Remote Bioinformatics Scientist to join their expanding genomics team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to groundbreaking scientific discovery from your home office. The Bioinformatics Scientist will be responsible for the analysis of large-scale genomic and transcriptomic datasets to identify key biological insights, develop novel algorithms, and contribute to the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. You will collaborate closely with molecular biologists, geneticists, and computational scientists to interpret complex biological data and translate findings into actionable research outcomes. This role requires a strong foundation in bioinformatics, molecular biology, statistics, and computer science, along with excellent programming skills and experience with high-performance computing environments. Responsibilities include: Analyze next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, including whole-genome, exome, and RNA-seq data. Develop and implement computational pipelines for the processing, analysis, and interpretation of genomic and transcriptomic data. Apply statistical methods and machine learning techniques to identify significant biological patterns, variants, and gene expression changes. Collaborate with experimental biologists to design experiments and interpret results. Develop and maintain databases for storing and querying biological data. Contribute to the writing of research manuscripts, grant proposals, and reports. Present research findings at scientific conferences and internal meetings. Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, genomics, and related fields. Develop and validate new bioinformatics tools and algorithms. Troubleshoot and resolve computational issues related to data analysis workflows. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of post-graduate experience in bioinformatics or computational biology, with a focus on genomic data analysis. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or Perl, and experience with relevant bioinformatics libraries and packages. Experience with NGS data analysis tools and workflows (e.g., GATK, STAR, Cufflinks, kallisto). Familiarity with various biological databases (e.g., NCBI, Ensembl, UCSC Genome Browser). Strong understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and genomics principles. Experience with statistical analysis and machine learning techniques. Proficiency in working with Unix/Linux environments and high-performance computing clusters. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly.
