Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Medical Record/Data Entry Clerk/Project Support Specialist to join our Revenue Recovery Department as a full-time Project Associate. This hybrid position offers a mix of remote and in-office work, with a 2/3 days on/off schedule. As a key member of our team, you'll assist and work with a team of registered nurses, coding professionals, and billing professionals to help ensure that our clients receive the reimbursement they're entitled to.

Key Responsibilities

As a Medical Record/Data Entry Clerk/Project Support Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Retrieving patient medical records from various hospital systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Generating and preparing patient itemized bills in appropriate formats for internal and external audits
  • Extracting and entering necessary information from/to hospital patient accounting systems
  • Making phone calls to post-acute healthcare facilities to obtain information needed on patients
  • Running and creating reports to support revenue recovery efforts
  • Assisting with any other information gathering or data entry as needed by the recovery team
  • Scanning and indexing of documents to ensure efficient and secure storage

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • 2+ years of experience in medical record/data entry or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of medical records, billing, and coding principles
  • Excellent data entry skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and software

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be a plus:

  • Experience working in a healthcare revenue recovery or billing environment
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management systems
  • Certification in medical records or a related field (e.g. RHIT, CCS)
  • Experience with report writing and data analysis
