Remote Senior Agricultural Scientist - Crop Optimization
Our client, a global leader in agricultural innovation, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Senior Agricultural Scientist specializing in Crop Optimization. This fully remote position offers the unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development from anywhere in the world, with a focus on enhancing crop yields and sustainability. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Agronomy, Plant Science, or a closely related field, coupled with extensive experience in advanced crop modeling, data analysis, and field trial design. You will be instrumental in developing and validating innovative strategies for optimizing crop performance across diverse geographical and climatic conditions. Key Responsibilities: Lead research initiatives focused on identifying and implementing advanced techniques for crop yield improvement and resource efficiency. Develop, calibrate, and validate sophisticated crop simulation models using statistical software and programming languages (e.g., R, Python). Design and manage large-scale field experiments to test hypotheses and gather empirical data on crop responses to various agronomic practices and environmental factors. Analyze complex datasets from field trials, remote sensing, and genomic information to derive actionable insights and recommendations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including geneticists, soil scientists, and agronomists, to integrate findings into breeding programs and farm management recommendations. Author high-impact scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at international conferences. Mentor junior scientists and research assistants involved in crop optimization projects. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in agricultural science, technology, and relevant policy changes. Contribute to the strategic direction of the company's R&D efforts in sustainable agriculture. Develop and maintain strong relationships with external research institutions and industry partners. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Agronomy, Plant Science, Agricultural Science, or a related discipline. A minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral research experience focused on crop physiology, modeling, and agronomy. Demonstrated expertise in developing and applying crop simulation models (e.g., APSIM, DSSAT, CropSyst). Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization tools (e.g., R, Python, SAS, SPSS). Experience with designing and interpreting field experiments, including statistical analysis of agronomic data. Familiarity with remote sensing technologies and GIS applications in agriculture. Excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills, with a strong publication record. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
