Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Data Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and building scalable data systems that drive business value. You will work closely with our data scientists, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and build data pipelines in Scala and Python/Flash to support our business operations
- Develop adaptable solutions using ETL pipelines in Big Data environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid)
- Implement Lakehouse engineering, working with key partners to move towards a Lakehouse-driven data stage
- Collaborate with Data Product Managers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists to design, execute, and deliver effective data solutions
- Maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to support data quality and data governance
- Ensure high functional proficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and support obligations to our clients (Data Science, Data Analysis groups)
- Be a proactive member and advocate of agile/scrum practice to ensure safety and collaboration upgrades for your team
- Be an issue solver; when given new challenges, you are expected to research and organize to find solutions
- Seek out answers to business problems and look for opportunities to automate processes and streamline costs
- Engage with and understand our clients, forming relationships that allow us to understand and focus on both innovative new offerings and steady platform upgrades
Required Education, Experience/Abilities/Training
* Strong algorithmic thinking ability
- Strong SQL skills and ability to write queries to extract data and build performant datasets
- Active experience with deployed systems, such as Flash and PySpark to query and handle data
- Strong key Scala as well as Python programming skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Cloud technologies like AWS (S3, EMR, EC2)
- Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (Ideally Snowflake, Redshift, Large Query)
- Strong experience with data integration toolsets (i.e. Wind current) and writing and maintaining Data Pipelines with Databricks
- Experience in Data Modeling procedures and Data Warehousing standard approaches and practices
- Familiarity with Scrum and Spry approaches
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work with others and build consensus in a cross-functional team towards an optimal result
Required Education
* Four-year degree in Software Engineering, Data Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience
