Freelance QA / System Engineer (IIoT & MES – On-site Michigan)
Description: We are looking for a freelance QA / System Engineer based in Michigan to support our Smart Factory (MES + IIoT) implementation. This role requires occasional on-site visits to customer facilities and strong communication skills to interact with production teams. Responsibilities:
- Support IIoT device integration and testing
- Monitor and validate real-time data from machines (PLC / sensors)
- Perform basic QA testing (UI, API, data validation)
- Provide on-site and remote support to customers
- Understand customer issues and translate them into technical requirements
- Train operators and engineers on system usage
- Assist during system go-live and troubleshooting
Requirements:
- Experience in QA, System Engineering, or Technical Support
- Understanding of industrial environments (manufacturing, MES, automation)
- Basic knowledge of PLC / IoT / industrial data collection
- Experience with API testing and SQL (preferred)
- Strong communication skills (must work with operators and engineers)
- Based in Michigan and available for on-site visits
Nice to have:
- Experience with MQTT / Kafka / real-time systems
- Experience with MES / ERP systems
- Field support or commissioning experience
