Experienced Crisis Counselor – Statewide 988 Chat/Text Specialist, 2nd Shift

Job Summary:

We're seeking an experienced Crisis Counselor to join our 24/7/365 high-volume, suicide prevention-focused team as a Statewide 988 Chat/Text Specialist. This role will involve answering statewide 988 chat/texts and conducting brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and appropriate service linkage for individuals experiencing emotional distress. The ideal candidate will possess excellent computer skills, a proven ability to communicate effectively through written communication/instant messaging, and the ability to multitask in a high-stress environment.

About the Role:

As a Crisis Counselor on our team, you'll be responsible for:

• Demonstrating a high level of clinical knowledge and skill in providing telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments
• Answering crisis contacts via Zoom contact center or the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources to best meet individual needs
• Conducting follow-up calls for individuals who are deemed moderate to high risk for suicide
• Meeting the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation
• Actively participating in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings
• Demonstrating high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette
• Demonstrating knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and other community resources
• Promoting a departmental culture of cooperation and collaboration with other cross-functional departments, community agencies, hospitals, mental health consumers, and the public at large
• Assisting in administrative tasks as needed

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field

• Six months to one year of crisis experience preferred
• Certified Peer Recovery Specialist certification may be considered in lieu of a degree
• Excellent computer skills and ability to communicate effectively through written communication/instant messaging
• Ability to multitask in a high-stress environment
• Strong customer service skills and professional etiquette
• Knowledge of suicide assessments and crisis intervention
• Ability to work in a remote setting with occasional in-person meetings

Compensation:

* Pay range: $20.05-$28.10 per hour
