Key Responsibilities:

As a part-time Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for:

  • Handling high volumes of customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Providing exceptional service to internal and external customers through various channels, including phone, email, and in-person interactions
  • Processing payments, handling cash and credit transactions, and maintaining accurate records
  • Assisting with interdepartmental cash and reporting/tracking functions
  • Receiving, maintaining, and accounting for monies and providing payment receipts
  • Processing commercial account set-ups and validating Tax IDs
  • Assisting with projects and performing back-office assignments as needed
  • Collaborating with peers to resolve customer issues and provide support
  • Maintaining accurate records and updating personal data on accounts in the billing system
  • Processing internal and external customer requests, including weigh-in and weigh-out customers on Weigh Station scales
  • Receiving, maintaining, and accounting for monies for Solid Waste Landfill customers
  • Entering accurate data into the Weigh Station software and producing reports
  • Assisting with new application(s) and computer information system modification(s) and upgrade(s) testing
  • Serving as a back-up to Team Leads or Weigh Station Supervisor in their absence

Essential Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year customer service experience
  • Six (6) months of cash handling experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other software systems
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working in a customer-facing role in a government or municipal setting

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, as well as City of Denton policies and procedures
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Experience working with Weigh Station software and other computer information systems
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds (for Solid Waste role)
