Job Title: General Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The General Maintenance Tech drives to various properties in the Rhode Island area to perform a wide range of building maintenance tasks. This role focuses on keeping facilities safe, clean, and in good working order through hands-on repair, upkeep, and light construction work.

Responsibilities

  • Drive to multiple properties within the Rhode Island area to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Perform general building repairs, including minor mechanical fixes, basic carpentry, and routine troubleshooting of maintenance issues.
  • Carry out janitorial duties such as cleaning common areas, removing trash, and maintaining overall facility cleanliness.
  • Patch roofs and address minor roofing issues to prevent leaks and damage.
  • Install, repair, or replace sheet rock as needed to maintain walls and ceilings in good condition.
  • Cut concrete safely and accurately for repairs, installations, or structural modifications.
  • Remove and dispose of garbage, debris, and construction waste in a safe and organized manner.
  • Install and maintain new flooring materials as required to keep properties in good condition.
  • Inspect buildings and facilities for maintenance needs and report issues promptly.
  • Follow safety procedures and use appropriate tools and equipment when performing maintenance and construction tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors regarding work orders and project status.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience performing general building maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ability to perform janitorial and cleaning duties to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Hands-on mechanical skills and basic troubleshooting ability for building systems and equipment.
  • Carpentry skills, including working with wood, sheet rock, and basic structural repairs.
  • Experience patching roofs and performing minor roofing maintenance.
  • Ability to cut concrete safely and accurately using appropriate tools.
  • Experience installing and maintaining flooring.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and dispose of garbage, debris, and materials as part of daily duties.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between properties in the Rhode Island area.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a construction or maintenance technician role.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple work orders and manage time effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying maintenance issues.
  • Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused attitude when working on-site.

Work Environment

This role operates in a construction and maintenance environment across multiple properties in the Rhode Island area. You will work primarily on-site at buildings, both indoors and outdoors, performing physical tasks such as repairs, cleaning, lifting, and installation work. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, totaling 40 hours per week. Work involves using standard maintenance and construction tools and equipment, following safety procedures, and wearing appropriate work attire suitable for a hands-on, construction/maintenance setting.

This is a Permanent position based out of East Providence, RI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
