Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Senior Web Engineer to join our team, responsible for delivering digital life insurance solutions that drive sales. As a key member of our full-stack web engineering team, you'll work closely with our development team to design, develop, and support new business and underwriting applications. Your expertise in infrastructure, application, integration, data, and security technology will be essential in driving innovation and application development leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and support new business and underwriting applications using full-stack web engineering principles
- Collaborate with our development team to identify and prioritize project requirements and deliverables
- Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure, applications, integration, design patterns, database, agile delivery methods, build and deployment processes, software development, and systems engineering
- Develop a wide range of architecture documents, including application and infrastructure design documents
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior team members
- Participate in code reviews and ensure high-quality code is delivered
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement
Qualifications
* 7+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years of large-scale public-facing e-commerce web development (front-end UI) experience
- 2+ years of Java development (back-end) experience
- 5+ years of delivering software using agile delivery methods
- Enterprise systems thinking, specifically the ability to see how individual systems and applications interact with the enterprise (big picture thinking)
- Comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure, applications, integration, design patterns, database, agile delivery methods, build and deployment processes, software development, and systems engineering
- Ability to develop a wide range of architecture documents (application and infrastructure design documents)
Essential Skills and Competencies
* Strong understanding of full-stack web engineering principles and practices
- Experience with Java development and agile delivery methods
- Comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure, applications, integration, design patterns, database, agile delivery methods, build and deployment processes, software development, and systems engineering
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and services (e.g. AWS, Azure)
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g. Jenkins, Docker)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
- Experience with testing frameworks and tools (e.g. JUnit, Selenium)
