Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Strategy

  • Support and promote the mission, values, and principles of Powernet.
  • Act as the technical lead on projects from pre-sales scoping and solution design (BOM) through implementation and lifecycle management.
  • Serve as the final escalation point for complex infrastructure, systems, and cloud-related issues for the NOC and Systems Engineering teams.
  • Provide active training, technical guidance, and mentorship to junior and mid-level technical staff.

Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering

  • Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of cloud environments across AWS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Implement and support enterprise Windows Server ecosystems, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Plan and execute complex migrations, specifically transitioning workloads from VMware to AWS/Azure or alternate hypervisors (Hyper-V, Nutanix).
  • Design and manage diverse virtualized infrastructures including VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix.
  • Lead disaster recovery planning and backup strategies while maintaining system monitoring to ensure maximum uptime and performance.

Operational Excellence

  • Develop and maintain high-level technical documentation, standards, and procedures for both internal and client environments.
  • Ensure a positive client experience by resolving high-level incident tickets with professional, timely communication.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies to recommend strategic improvements for Corporate and Client IT standards.

Core Technical Areas

  • High-level expertise in Windows Server & Active Directory.
  • Proficient in AWS and Microsoft Azure (IaaS, networking, identity, and migration tools).
  • Deep knowledge of VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, and XenServer.
  • Expert-level VM migrations, hybrid cloud design, and workload modernization.
  • Experience with SAN/NAS platforms (Pure, Nimble, NetApp) and core networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs).
  • Mastery of Backup and Disaster Recovery technologies.

Requirements

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional experience designing, building, and supporting Microsoft Windows domain environments.
  • Previous experience in a Managed Services environment is highly preferred.
  • A proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve high-level, complex IT infrastructure issues from the ground up.
  • The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable advice for non-technical clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience working within PSA and RMM frameworks (e.g., HaloPSA, ConnectWise, NinjaOne).
  • Professional certifications (VCP, MCSE, or Cloud Architect) are strongly preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for occasional on-site support.
