Position Summary

The Coding & Billing Specialist is responsible for managing and processing charge & billing transactions for our ENT and Allergy medical practices. This role involves accurately preparing and submitting claims, resolving billing issues, and ensuring timely collections. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to work individually and as a team
  • Knowledgeable in CPT AND ICD-10 assignments
  • Review and update charges with correct insurance when applicable
  • Ensure that any authorizations that are required are attached to the claim prior to billing
  • Working knowledge of insurances. Knowledgeable of payor denials, reason codes, polices and guidelines.
  •  Familiar with working with Electronic Medical Records and Clearing House claim rejections. 
  • Experience with all payors which includes Medicare, Managed Medicare, Medicaid and commercial.
  • Maintain accurate and organized billing records and documentation.
  • Perform regular audits of billing activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Assist with month-end closing and reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with the Coding & Billing Manager, Director, and other team members to improve billing processes and efficiency.
  • Stay updated on changes in insurance regulations and billing practices.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 
  • Minimum of one - three year experience working with medical billing procedures and insurance programs. 
  • Ability to retain knowledge of general clinic practices, policies and procedures. 
  • Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail is required. 
  • Must be able to organize and work independently.   
  • CPC preferred but not required
  • Previous experience with ENT & Allergy Coding & Billing preferred but not required
