About the Role

Codematic is looking for a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead its high-performing FullStack development team. In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between technical execution and strategic leadership, guiding a talented group of engineers, ensuring the delivery of scalable, world-class solutions, and fostering a culture of innovation, mentorship, and continuous improvement.

Scope of Work & Key Responsibilities

People Leadership & Mentorship

  • Lead and inspire a team of FullStack developers, managing performance, career growth, and technical excellence.
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, provide actionable feedback, and guide team members through complex technical challenges.
  • Foster a collaborative, transparent environment that prioritises psychological safety and high-velocity innovation.

Technical Strategy & Execution

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of scalable software solutions, ensuring best practices in both front-end and back-end engineering.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Designers to translate business requirements into robust technical roadmaps.
  • Lead technical design sessions and code reviews to maintain the highest standards of system reliability and maintainability.

Delivery & Operations

  • Ensure deliverables meet quality standards, deadlines, and budgetary constraints using Agile methodologies.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, including AI and Cloud-Native patterns, to keep Codematic's stack modern and competitive.
  • Drive DevOps maturity with a focus on CI/CD efficiency and system observability.

Technical Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 6 to 10+ years of total software development experience, with at least 5 years in a Senior role and 2+ years in a formal leadership or management position.
  • Mastery of modern front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, or Vue.js) and robust back-end environments (Node.js, Python, or NestJS).
  • Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB).
  • Hands-on proficiency with Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Expertise in Microservices Architecture and API-First design principles.
  • Proficiency with Agile tools (Jira/Trello) and experience leading Scrum or Kanban workflows.
  • Strong background in automated testing frameworks and Quality Assurance practices.

Success Criteria & KPIs

  • Consistent delivery of high-quality, scalable code on schedule.
  • High team retention, strong engagement scores, and measurable career progression of direct reports.
  • Effective balance between new feature delivery and technical debt management.
  • High satisfaction levels from cross-functional partners across Product, Design, and Executive leadership.

Why Join Codematic

You will play a critical part in shaping the technical direction of an organisation that values engineering excellence and human-centric leadership. At Codematic, you are not just managing tasks. You are building the future of a technical ecosystem that serves businesses across three continents.
