Work from home Full-time role Hiring

Job Description

JOSA, a Jordanian organization dedicated to promoting and developing open-source technology for social good, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Product Manager to join its newly established product team and lead the planning, development, and delivery of JOSA's open-source digital products, platforms, and tools.

This role will work primarily with product engineers within the product team, while coordinating closely with the program team and tech team to ensure that products are built with clear vision, user-centered design, and alignment with JOSA's mission. The Product Manager will own the product lifecycle, from discovery and requirements gathering through development, launch, and iteration, championing open-source principles and collaborative practices at every stage.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong alignment with JOSA's mission and values.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in product management, technical project management, or a related role; experience in NGOs, social enterprises, or open-source projects is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of software development processes, agile methodologies, and the product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to translate business and program requirements into clear technical specifications and user stories.
  • Familiarity with open-source tools and ecosystems; experience contributing to or managing open-source digital products is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent Arabic and English communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Strategy and Planning

  • Define and maintain product roadmaps for JOSA's open-source digital products, platforms, and tools in collaboration with senior leadership, the program team, and the tech team.
  • Conduct user research, gather feedback from stakeholders and beneficiaries, and translate insights into actionable product requirements.
  • Prioritize features, enhancements, and technical debt based on impact, feasibility, and alignment with JOSA's strategic objectives.

Development and Delivery

  • Work closely with product engineers within the product team to plan sprints, define acceptance criteria, and ensure timely delivery of product increments.
  • Write clear user stories, product specifications, and technical briefs that guide development and reduce ambiguity.
  • Coordinate releases, manage dependencies across the product, program, and tech teams, and facilitate testing and quality assurance processes.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the product team and internal stakeholders across the program team, tech team, business development, and communications.
  • Present product updates, demos, and progress reports to leadership and external partners.
  • Gather and synthesize feedback from users, partners, and clients to inform product iterations and improvements.

Open Source and Community

  • Champion open-source practices in product development, including transparent documentation, community contributions, and open licensing for all of JOSA's digital products, platforms, and tools.
  • Support the engagement and growth of contributor communities around JOSA's open-source products.
  • Monitor trends in open-source technology and identify opportunities to adopt or integrate relevant tools and frameworks.
