Civil Engineering Designer, Transit and Rail -
David Evans and Associates, Inc. is actively seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Designer to join their Transit and Rail Group. The role involves construction document production, computer-aided design, and project delivery focused on transit and rail projects, contributing to the advancement of sustainable transportation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Support our Transit and Rail Group with the production of drawings, layouts, maps, corridor and 3D modeling, and graphic representations of engineering designs using Bentley OpenRoads / OpenRail
- CADD tasks to support the development of railroad terminal, railroad capacity, transit and highway projects
- Maintain, develop and direct efficient workflows within client specific CADD standards and workspaces
- Develop concept plans and construction plan sets including site layout, track, grading, drainage, utilities, and roads
- Create design details, schematics, and engineering specifications
- Collaborate with other project teams, such as structural, architectural, and geotechnical
- Prepare quantity and cost estimates
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction science or Associate degree in Engineering Technology / CAD
- Experience reading and understanding construction drawings and engineering concepts
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Comfortable working on fast-paced projects
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and communication tools
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
- Interest in transit and rail projects
- Experience with 3D design software Bentley OpenRoads / OpenRail and document management infrastructure such as ProjectWise
- 1-3 years' experience, industry related particularly with civil design and drafting of rail and related projects
