Sr. Corporate Counsel

Pendo helps companies drive product adoption, better understand their users, and deliver software experiences customers love. As we grow globally, the Legal team plays a critical role in ensuring we scale responsibly — balancing speed, compliance, and trust. We're looking for a Sr. Corporate Counsel who's energized by variety and impact. You'll be a key partner in helping Pendo grow across new markets and functions, with meaningful ownership over global employment, privacy, and corporate compliance initiatives. This is a great opportunity for someone who has been an early in-house lawyer at a fast-growing, venture-backed company and now wants to amplify their impact as part of a larger, collaborative team working directly with and reporting to the General Counsel. Deliverables (what you'll do): Be a true generalist — advise across a variety of legal areas, with a primary focus on employment and global privacy, while supporting other matters as needed.

• Global Employment
• Partner closely with the People team on global employment matters across multiple jurisdictions, including hiring, onboarding, employee relations, terminations, and investigations.
• Develop, refine, and maintain employment policies, handbooks, and compliance frameworks that align with local laws and Pendo's culture.
• Monitor employment law developments and provide practical, risk-based guidance to business leaders.
• Support the design and implementation of scalable global employment practices that enable consistent, compliant operations worldwide.
• Privacy & Data Protection
• Advise on international privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, UK GDPR, Japan APPI, Australian Privacy Act, CCPA/CPRA, and other global frameworks, with particular focus on employee and HR data privacy.
• Provide clear, actionable guidance on international privacy compliance, data handling, and risk management.
• Partner with Product & Privacy Counsel to ensure alignment between employee privacy practices and product-related privacy frameworks..
• Corporate, Compliance & Advisory Support
• Advise on corporate governance, subsidiary management, and strategic transactions, including due diligence and integration efforts.
• Support compliance programs related to Pendo's Code of Conduct, ESG, Whistleblower, and Anti-Corruption initiatives.
• Pitch in on projects and revenue contracts across commercial and product areas when time permits and where your expertise adds value.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to teams across Pendo, translating complex legal concepts into practical guidance.

Minimum Qualifications:

• JD and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 8-10 years of employment and diverse legal counseling experience, including time in-house at a fast-growing, venture-backed technology or SaaS company.
• Strong background in global employment and privacy/data protection, with comfort navigating international regulations.
• Experience building corporate compliance programs from the ground up and managing maturation of such programs (e.g., Code of Conduct, ESG, Whistleblower, or Anti-Corruption).
• Exposure to corporate governance, M&A, or product and commercial transactions is a plus.
• Enjoys working in ambiguity and is a quick study, able to tackle problems of first impression with curiosity and sound business judgment.
• A collaborative, low-ego approach and a sense of humor.
• Strong curiosity and business acumen, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical, business-oriented solutions.
• A practical, business-oriented mindset and the ability to operate autonomously in a dynamic environment.

Compensation

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide. The expected salary range for this role to be performed in: Raleigh, NC or remote is $190,000 - $237,000 San Francisco, CA or New York, NY is $210,000 - $261,000 Individual pay rate decisions, including offers made within and over the expected salary range, are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
