Remote Sr. Unix Systems Engineer
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Unix System Engineer - REMOTE. In this role, you will be an essential contributor to the operations and maintenance of key Unix systems, ensuring that the infrastructure supports critical services efficiently. You'll work with a diverse team, engaging in tasks that span monitoring, vulnerability mitigation, and server management across a wide range of platforms. - Work on a Unix team supporting 600+ Unix/Linux servers
- Assist in growing the Linux presence in AWS
- Participate in 24x7 On-Call rotation and after hours support as required
- Read, modify, write, and debug scripts (shell, perl, python, etc.)
- Install, configure, patch RHEL on several physical and virtual platforms
- Utilize Splunk for Log Review
- Perform daily monitoring of servers and maintenance as needed
- Analyze and develop technical documentation
- Provide direct support to customers and stakeholders, manage support requests
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 5 Years Experience supporting RHEL/CentOS Systems
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA6/7/8) Certification
- Intermediate ability with Satellite Server and Ansible Tower
- Proven Experience with Linux Hosting in AWS
- Experience in Vulnerability Mitigation / OS Hardening
- Creation and configuration of file systems (NFS/CIFS)
- Expert proficiency in Logical Volume Management
- Significant Experience with an Enterprise Monitoring/Ticketing System
- Demonstrated analytic problem-solving ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Time management and organizational aptitude
- Ability to work independently
